The clothes were from our wardrobes but we did a mixture of different styles; we categorized them as 'Elegant' 'Rock chick' and 'Summery' looks.
We made sure we included a huge range of colours, to keep with Faiths branding we have already created. Also almost every outfit choice had a necklace or over the top accessorie.
The photoshoot was done in my house in front of a neutral plain wall. We wanted the colours to be quite warm and welcoming. The idea is that it was easy on the eye and iconic. As you will see in our digipack, we knew we were going to do a lot of editing for these pictures anyway, so we wasn't too bothered about the background or the setting.
By doing such a range of photos we hope to appeal to all kinds of female audiences. The way that Faith posed changed in every shot, in some we had her looking straight on, standing up straight and in others we had her standing to the side or looking down, in others we lent her against a wall or gave her a fun prop; for example a vapour cigarette or a bag or a snap back hat. We thought that by doing a number of different things in such a small empty canvas, we would keep the shots interesting. We didn't want to take the audiences eyes away from the fashionista that we have tried to portray, so thats why we haven't done anything too appealing in the way that shes posing or her hair and makeup.
In some of the shots we seemed to show a lot of sex appeal and attractiveness for the male audience; this brings in the Laura Mulvey theory that considers the male gaze, and the portrayal of women as objects. However some of the elegant longer outfits show class and simple beauty, that a lot of younger girls and even women would admire.
The 'rock chick' look was my personal favourite, this is because i'm a fan of dark colours and mysteriousness. A lot of blacks and reds are used, it represents quite a 'street wear' look, rather than feminity. The poses she did for this look were the best poses that she used over all; the hand on the shoulder with the hair up is really interesting, the overall image looks extremely high fashion, that of which would be seen for Givinchy or Jason Wu, (high fashion catwalk designers). The picture with the hat on shows that Faith has attitude and swagger. The way she is posing engages with the audience in quite a defensive but 'cool' manor. I think the younger teens will like this look because its fun and casual.
Another picture I favoured was the pink coat look in the 'summer chic' collage. This look was inspired by Chanel's powder pink catwalk. I think the white fluffy jumper shows purity and the flowers show innocence. A lot of versatility is shown within these looks because it becomes apparent that she can look both cool, chic, elegant and innocent. This is not something that every artist can do, and although we have already branded her style and statement accessories, these photos show that there is room for change or even a wardrobe collaboration in the future.
The second photoshoot we did, that was around school; we ensured that we included a lot of moving around and usage of the rule of thirds. We did this shoot to get some more images to potentially use for our digipack, or some sort of advertisement. We dressed her in a navy and black outfit with an over the top silver statement necklace that sparkled under the light. This look was more 'Faith' like, than the ones in the shoot we did previously. The dark eyes and dark clothes bring back her original style. When editing pictures, for example with a dark or black and white effect; darker clothes and makeup all collaborate with each other to give a really good gothic look.
We chose a number of different settings for this day, we did some against a brick wall in the corridor, where she sat on the floor. You can see a bit of the distance of the floor in the back ground on the left, this shows how small Faith is, in this big world. Another one we did was of her full body standing up on the stairs, we did this because the light shining through from behind made her make up and eyes look outstanding. Also it accentuated her figure and her legs looked incredibly long. Lastly, we went back to where we did our day 3 of filming in the drama hall. The dark wall looked really effective when you shined the industrial lamp on it, the reflection of the light looked radiant on Faiths face. This one was probably my favourite one for a poster or advertisement, because her eyes and radiant face really bring you in.
